Community Service
Valor’s Heart and SOUL Program gives students an understanding of the Heart of God by being a part of His greater kingdom through their Service, Outreach, Uplift and Love. By Christ’s example and through his teaching, a walk with Christ must include compassionate outreach to others. God’s Word instructs that His followers reach out in love to those who do not know Him, lift up the downtrodden and serve those who need a hand, in the name of Jesus Christ. The Heart and SOUL program is far more than community service. It is directed toward transformation of the lives of the students, those who are served and the culture. These service and outreach ministries must be directed toward serving those in physical, emotional or spiritual need, building up the body of Christ and glorifying God, in the name of Jesus Christ. As a result, there may be many good opportunities that will not be part of this program. Requirements and Framework All Valor students are required to meet a minimum of 15 SOUL hours each year. These hours must be met by serving at authorized organizations, events, or by participating in an approved “mission” trip or independent project/internship. SOUL requirements can be met during the summer before or during the actual school year.
Administration of SOUL Although students will be graded as “Pass” or “No Pass,” the most important criteria will be the understanding and transformation that occurs during this process. |
