Spiritual Formation Program
Spiritual Formation at Valor is about an uncompromising integration of faith and learning which envelops the students, staff, and faculty in a unified vision of Christ-like character development in all pursuits. Spiritual Formation must be a lifestyle developed and lived out before a Christian worldview becomes part of the student's life. Therefore we have set aside time each week during the school day to intentionally pursue Spiritual Formation. We call it the FACC period.
FACC - Forum, Advisory, Chapel and Community Times
Forum: Valor students receive training in leadership skills as well as how to handle social, emotional, and cultural difficulties facing students today.
Advisory: An intentional mentoring relationship exists and operates between small groups of students matched with a member of the faculty and staff. These Advisory groups are placed where students can be real with peers and themselves as they encounter life issues. Advisors serve as facilitator, mentor, shepherd, and servant leader.
Chapel: New Testament Theologian Thomas Wright states that "we become like what we worship". Valor provides transformational, meaningful, and memorable worship and devotional encounters with God through music, drama, prayer, teachings, and shared spiritual experiences.
Common Unity (Community): Valor engages in interdenominational modeling to nurture and guide students in loving, understanding, and supporting their Christian brothers and sisters in the Valor community of faith, so that "all may be one" (John 17:21). Community time has been scheduled each week to commemorate and celebrate victories and accomplishment. |
