Academic and College Counseling
As a college preparatory school, Valor Christian is committed to helping students and parents with college planning. Early in the students’ first year at Valor, every student and their parents will meet with the college counselors to create a dedicated four-year plan for comprehensive coverage of high school goals and objectives. Our curriculum opportunities are designed to meet the most unique or rigorous college admissions requirements. In addition to academic objectives, four year plans include student activities and co-curricular functions. As students progress through their studies at Valor we will encourage them to refine their personal objectives and educational four-year plans. We will help them to take stock and review their progress, to assess both their potential and performance. During the junior year, students will be individually advised how to begin more intensive study and planning that will guide them in the daunting task of choosing a college. Juniors should begin narrowing their college choices and begin visiting prospective schools. Valor attracts visits from admissions representatives from many colleges from across the nation. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the information from the various college representatives as they discuss their schools and the opportunities available. By the fall of their senior year, students will be prepared to apply to their prospective colleges. In addition to classroom guidance regarding college information, each senior and their parents will meet individually with the college counselor to learn procedures and strategies for the college application and scholarship process. The Academic and College Counseling Department has provided the following documents to assist you in all aspects of college planning.
