Appointed 2008: Prior to her appointment at Valor, Ms. Alcala taught Language Arts and English as a Second Language in the Denver Public School system. She went on to teach Spanish for 10 years at Cherry Hills Christian Middle School. During that time, Ms. Alcala developed and published the Get Real Spanish curriculum.

Appointed 2012: Ms. Allen has been actively involved in the Valor community as a Tutor and has been the varsity girls volleyball Assistant Coach for the last three years. She was born and raised in Colorado and just recently graduated from Colorado Christian University in May with an Education degree. Ms. Allen is the oldest of three with two younger brothers who are both Valor graduates. She is passionate about serving the Kingdom of God and is actively involved at her church having served on four mission trips.

Appointed 2009: Prior to his appointment at Valor, Mr. Anderson was the Math Department Chair at Longmont Christian High School for ten years, instituting a strong AP and pre-AP program. Mr. Anderson has received the Valor Department of Excellence Award for 2009/10 and the Valor Excellence in Teaching Award for 2011/12. He also received the Volleyball Coach of the Year award in 2004 and 2007. He and his wife, Loni, are expecting their first child in February. Mr. Anderson loves to rock climb, ski and is an avid cyclist. He also is actively involved in his local church and men’s Bible study.

Appointed 2012: Mrs. Anderson was born and raised in Montana and moved to Denver in 2006. Mrs. Anderson has worked in several different counseling positions as a Licensed Professional and National Certified Counselor. Her counseling experience includes serving as a Family Preservation Therapist for Griffith Centers for Children working with high risk families and serving at a residential treatment center for adolescents. She has also counseled in private practice and served with Open Door Ministries. Mrs. Anderson and her husband, Gabe, also on staff, are expecting their first child in February. They enjoy skiing, rock climbing, camping, and playing with their black Labrador, Bridger.

Appointed 2008: Prior to her appointment at Valor, Ms. Baas worked as a Language Arts Educator at a Colorado Springs Charter School before returning to college to attain her Masters in Library and Information Science. Ms. Baas has specific experience in medical school and academic libraries. She continues to read professional literature and attend conferences to stay current with the changing library and information landscape. Ms. Baas was a co-leader for the Discipleship Class’ Discovery trip to Israel.

Appointed: 2011 Mr. Blake came to Valor after seven years of teaching high school Mathematics. His passion in teaching is both Algebra 2 and German. He is looking forward to adding AP Statistics to that list this year. Prior to embarking on his teaching career, Mr. Blake served for fifteen years as a partner with the international consulting firm, Accenture. He enjoys drawing on his business experience to help his students make connections between the classroom and their future careers. Mr. Blake has spent five years working overseas in German speaking countries and uses his knowledge to bring cultural relevance into his world language classes. He loves the outdoors and travel and enjoys skiing, hiking, biking and scuba diving. He also served as a co-leader on the Marine Biology Valor Discovery trip to Cozumel. He has two sons who attend Colorado State University. He and his wife and best friend, Shana, live in Littleton.

Appointed 2007: Mrs. Bogar was named Dean of Students in the fall of 2009. She is also the advisor for Valor’s True Blue student newspaper and teaches both Journalism I and II. During her first two years at Valor, she taught College Preparatory Biology and Anatomy and Physiology. She was involved in the development of Valor’s early leadership opportunities for students and was named a United States Space Foundation Teacher Liaison in 2008. Mrs. Bogar came to Valor after serving at Cherry Hills Christian Middle School as a founding staff member of the school. Besides establishing the Science Department, she also directed the 8th grade Washington DC trips, taught Bible, directed chapels, and was Spiritual Development Director for students and staff. Mrs. Bogar and her husband, Ed, have three children; Jessica, Blaine and Daniel.

Appointed 2007: Mr. Byler was appointed to the history department as a founding member of the Valor faculty. In addition to his current role as a World History teacher, Mr. Byler has spent time as the Head Basketball Coach and the Enrollment Coordinator, as well as serving as the public address announcer for Valor sports programs. Prior to his appointment, he taught in the Jeffco Public School District where he was awarded Dakota Ridge Teacher of the Year. He also served the physically and mentally disabled students in the Warwick School District in Pennsylvania. Mr. Byler and his wife, Teri Lynn, live in Highlands Ranch with their son Logan, and daughter, Maci. The Bylers are active members of their church and enjoy time together, including relaxation in the mountains, traveling to see family, and participation in a variety sports, including coaching several of his children’s teams.

Mr. Charles joined Valor in 2008 as a faculty member of the Math Department. Gary has been married to his wife Terry for 36 years and has two grown sons. Gary and Terry are involved in various ministries including Young Life and mentoring singles and young married couples; and co-led a Valor Discovery trip to Nicaragua in 2011.

Appointed 2012: Mrs. Clagett brings 9 years of teaching high school Ceramics, from beginning through advanced levels to Valor Arts. For 8 years, she served as Gallery Designer for the Jefferson County High School Art Show at the Arvada Center and she was a student curator for Mariani Gallery. Mrs. Clagett’s emphasis in college was textiles and costume design. She has designed and constructed costumes for high school productions and professional theater companies nationwide. Outside the classroom, you will find Mrs. Clagett hiking, fly fishing, and enjoying the outdoors with her husband and two children.

Appointed 2010: Mrs. Connor has worked as a counselor at Children’s Hospital in Denver and two local private high schools before coming to Valor. Kallyn has served at Valor in the Counseling Department, Academic Success and is looking forward to expanding her role with Student Life. She is also the Head Cheer Coach for Valor. Mrs. Connor helped to lead the cheer team to place in the state finals competition in 2011 and 2012, as well as, participate in Nationals where they have finished in the top 25 in their division. Mrs. Connor is one of 5 siblings from the Denver area and loves being part of a big family. Mrs. Connor is married to her husband, Nick, and they recently had their first baby, Audrey.

Appointed 2008: Prior to his appointment at Valor, Mr. Crockett worked in the Information Technology/Computer Science field as a Software Architect, Software Engineer, and IT Consultant for 23 years. Mr. Crockett continues to teach courses at Valor that focus on the latest technology. Mr. Crockett has a passion for hockey. He started the Valor hockey program and was the Head Coach for three years. He currently stays active in hockey as a senior level official. He officiates all youth levels in addition to high school, AAA, and Division II College teams. He has been married 22 years to his wife, Nancy. They have two children, Bre and Trev. In his spare time, Mr. Crockett enjoys skiing, snowshoeing, backpacking, biking, and running. He plans to run his 3rd half marathon this fall.

Appointed 2012: Prior to Mr. Culver’s Valor appointment, he was concurrently an adjunct faculty member for Colorado Community Colleges, Grand Canyon University and Pikes Peak Community College. He also previously taught high school in Colorado Springs, and Los Angeles. Over the past 14 years, he has taught a wide variety subjects ranging from Ethics, Philosophy and Logic to History, Science, and Math. When he’s not wrestling with his four children or spending time with his wife, Shari, Mr. Culver is working on his PhD in Religious and Theological Studies at the University of Denver. His research focuses upon 20th century French Philosophy. He loves to hike, read, cook, play tennis, and watch the Broncos.

Appointed 2012: Prior to Ms. Cunningham's Valor appointment, she was an instructor for Kanakuk Christian Kamps Organization and attended the Kanakuk Institute, where she served for over 5 years mentoring high school students. Ms. Cunningham’s love for athletics is apparent. She was on the University of Kansas track and field team, and coached basketball at a local Kansas City Christian school. She also worked as a Health Fitness Specialist and volunteered with the Special Olympics. Besides being passionate about health and fitness, she also looks forward to spending time with family and traveling overseas during the summer.

Appointed 2011: Prior to her Valor appointment, Ms. Daniels taught in the suburbs of Chicago for 14 years at Wheaton Academy, a private Christian high school, where she received the Wilbur A. Hiller Teaching award. Ms. Daniels also taught at Wheaton College for 3 years. She loves to travel, especially with students. Some of her favorite destinations are England, Italy, Morocco, Ecuador, and Zambia. She has studied abroad at Oxford University and participated in a creativity workshop in Florence, Italy. In her free time, Ms. Daniels loves to hike in the mountains and kayak. Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4: 4-9 and her favorite author is Annie Dillard.

Appointed 2012: A Colorado native, Mr. Davis earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from the University of Colorado in 1991, his Master of Divinity Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1995, and his Ph.D. in Historical Theology from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2010. Before his doctoral studies, He pastored churches in Utah and Missouri. Most recently he taught as an adjunct instructor at Morgan Community College in Fort Morgan, Colorado. He currently lives in Brighton, Colorado with his wife, Melissa, and their two cats. Mr. Davis is an avid sports fan and loves to hike in the mountains. He is also rather fond of good books and good coffee.

Appointed 2012: After completing her studies and internships in Graphic Design at University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning, Ms. Dick spent a year in Rome, Italy with Campus Crusade for Christ (now known as Cru). Upon returning, she joined a large digital media agency, designing for a wide range of clients, from Procter & Gamble to ConAgra Foods to Frontier Airlines. Her design work has won several awards, including Internet Advertising Competition and Webby awards. Five years into her career in advertising, she felt a call to teach and shifted to freelance work in order to begin a full-time Masters program in Art Education. Ms. Dick is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. She enjoys contemporary art and design, NHL hockey and exploring her new surroundings here in Denver. She creates and shows mixed-media and fiber arts pieces and continues to do freelance design work.

Appointed 2008: Prior to her appointment at Valor, Mrs. Fisher was a faculty member for 24 years at Wheaton Academy, a Christian high school in West Chicago, Illinois. While at Wheaton Academy, she taught all four grade levels of English offerings including AP Literature and Composition, developed their Writing Center, was instrumental in developing the summer reading program, advised the yearbook and Student Council and worked with a student internship program. Since coming to Valor, Mrs. Fisher has again taught English courses at all four grade levels including AP Literature and Composition. Beginning in 2012, she was very thankful to be given the opportunity to pursue her passion for writing instruction as Director of The Write Place, Valor’s across-the-curriculum Writing Resource Center. She loves reading great literature, hiking in the gorgeous Rockies, traveling to and exploring new places with her husband, Ken, as well as spending time with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren who live nearby.

Appointed 2011: Mrs. Forge teaches Academic Coaching for grades nine through twelve in the RISE department. Prior to this position, she was a full time Substitute Teacher at Valor Christian High School. She also served her church community for several years as the Music Director for Vacation Bible School and the Awana program. Mrs. Forge, a Colorado native, earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology from Colorado State University. She and her husband Greg have two children, Samantha and Austin. In his second year as an Eagle, he is taking on the position of History Department Chair and is a Valor girls basketball coach. Appointed 2008: Mr. Gautier is entering his ninth year in education and fifth year at Valor. He is excited to assume the new role as Director of Academic and College Counseling while continuing as the Head Speech and Debate Coach. Prior to his appointment at Valor, Mr. Gautier taught for three years in Plano, Texas at Jasper High School. There he served as the Head Speech and Debate Coach and as a member of the Communications and Social Studies Departments. While at Jasper, Mr. Gautier developed a program to emphasize social responsibility, which was recognized by Time Warner Cable with their National Teacher Awards in 2007. He and his wife, Jen, are about to celebrate ten years of marriage and he is the father of three young boys.

Appointed: 2011 Mrs. Gegen came to Valor in 2007, as a parent volunteer, prior to her Substitute Librarian position in 2009. She has been married to Mike for 28 years and is mom to two boys and two girls, both of who graduated from Valor. Mrs. Gegen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Colorado State University and a Master’s degree in Public Health from Colorado University. She loves to travel and has served in Kenya, Trinidad and Tobago, as well as, Mexico. Nancy also enjoys being outside, visiting her children and, of course, reading!

Appointed 2009: Mr. Gomez attended Northland International University in Dunbar, WI where he studied Secondary Education with concentrations in Mathematics and Speech. He began his teaching career at Twin City Christian School in Massachusetts. During his time there, he taught various Math classes and served in other roles including Network Administrator, Web Designer, and Athletic Coach. Eventually he felt the urge to return to his hometown of Denver and to teach at his high school alma mater, Silver State Christian School in Morrison, teaching Science and Technology. After two years at Silver State, he came to Valor to teach Math. He was chosen for Valor’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 2011. This year, he has taken on a new role as Director of Educational Technology. Mr. Gomez is passionate about Mathematics and Technology. More importantly, however, he is passionate about helping students realize their potential and the joy that comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ. He lives in Centennial with his best friend and wife, Chastity. He has four children and serves as a pastor at Sola Church in the Centennial area.

Upon competition of his studies, he went to work for a U.S. senator from Colorado. After a year, he returned to Indiana to teach in an urban setting at Providence Cristo Rey High School as well as get married to his now wife, Emily. Appointed 2009: Mr. Lambers is of German nationality, grew up in a family of nine and graduated from high school in Northwest Germany, close to the border of Holland. After having studied Theology, in Basel, Switzerland from 1981-84, he came to the US to continue his studies and graduated from Denver Seminary with a Masters of Divinity in 1988. Before returning to his home country, Mr. Lambers accompanied a local youth group, as translator, to an Azusa Pacific outreach in Mexicali, and served as a youth pastor in North Denver working with Chicano kids. He also served the Lord in South-East Asia working with a Burmese missionary who ministered to tribal people in North Thailand. In preparation for his future ministry, he completed an SIL-Linguistics course in Germany, as well as a 4-month medical course in London, England. Beginning in 1991, Mr. Lambers then left for South West China where he would spend the next sixteen years studying Chinese and teaching English at various schools. During this time, he worked with a poverty relief organization to train educators who helped to develop schools among various tribal people while reaching out to the unreached with the Good News. He returned from China to Germany in 2007 and accepted a teaching position in the World Language Department (Chinese and German) at Valor in the fall of 2009. He and his wife, who is a Chinese national, have a 7-year old daughter. He loves the outdoors, enjoys playing the piano, likes to swim, play soccer and tennis and has great interest in History, Archaeology and is very inspired by reading missionary biographies.

Appointed 2008: Mr. Scott has taught as a member of the Valor math department since 2008: and teaches Honors Algebra II/Trigonometry and Pre Calculus. Prior to his Valor appointment, Mr. Scott spent 11 years in the Math Department in the Cherry Creek School District where he sponsored the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Huddle and coached in the baseball program. Mr. Scott is a faculty sponsor of the Valor student group "ALL IN", he is the Assistant Chaplain for the volleyball program, and is known for the "Video of the Week" in the classroom. He is a proud father of his daughter, Tes. In his free time he enjoys watching his daughter compete in soccer, basketball, and swimming, as well as, supporting the Broncos and Rockies, volunteering at his church, and attending Valor events.

Appointed 2011: Mrs. Shallenberger started her teaching career in 1994 in Santa Barbara, California. She taught many levels of Mathematics and coached cheerleading and dance teams. In 1999, she moved with her family to Germany, serving as a Missionary and Teacher at the Black Forest Academy for three years. Upon her return to the United States, she focused on raising her children before returning to the classroom. She is also passionate about youth ministry and has over 20 years experience as a youth worker. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, sewing, fly fishing, and other outdoor activities with her family.

Appointed 2007: Prior to his appointment at Valor, Mr. Shultz taught for 5 years in the Cherry Creek School District and additionally another 5 years at Westminster Christian Academy in St. Louis, one of the country’s top Christian high schools. At Valor, Mr. Shultz now helps lead the Senior Seminar Program, a capstone course in Biblical leadership and preparation for college. He is the Valor Head Coach for both the boys and girls soccer teams. He has coached soccer for 22+ years, including youth to the collegiate level ranks. The Shultz family moved to Colorado 11 years ago to start FamiliesAlive, an emerging ministry partnering with churches locally and nationally to help strengthen Christian families through seminars, materials, and retreats. Mr. Shultz loves spending time with his wife and 6 kids in all things outdoors, and he really enjoys fishing, camping, and playing disc golf.

Appointed 2012: Prior to joining Valor, Ms. Sinacori served at Valor as a substitute teacher. She was also an active substitute teacher in Douglas County and Cherry Creek School Districts. Ms. Sinacori graduated summa cum laude from Lehman College. She has a passion for the outdoors, hiking, biking, sports, and fitness; and is enamored by God’s creation, His Word and the intricacies of life. Ms. Sinacori served on two mission trips to Juarez Mexico and is looking forward to serving in missions through Valor’s Discovery program. Ms. Sinacori volunteers with the youth and women’s Bible studies and is always willing to lead a helping hand at her church.

Appointed 2012: Mr. Stone is currently studying Christian Studies at Denver Seminary and has lectured at Summit Ministries on the spiritual formative aspects of video games and is developing a biblical framework for understanding those who play and why they play as a final requirement for completing his Masters in Christian studies. Previously, Mr. Stone was Head of Male Staffing and Activities Coordinator for Summit Ministries, as well as, a teacher for Yale Foreign Language Academy, teaching English as a second language in South Korea. While in Korea, he trained in traditional Korean martial arts and archery earning a black belt and the title “Ace.” Mr. Stone and his wife, Sarah, recently exchanged wedding vows in October 2012.

Appointed 2007: Mrs. Thomas attended Concordia University, in Seward, NE where she studied Mathematics and Physics. She began her teaching career at Orange Lutheran High School in California. During her time there, she taught various math classes and served in other roles including Professional Learning Community Facilitator, National Honor Society Chair, and Ignite Mentorship Program Director. In 2007, she was chosen for the Outstanding Christian Educator Award by the Orange Lutheran faculty and staff. Excited about the opportunity to be a part of a new school, Mrs. Thomas moved to Denver to be part of Valor's inaugural year. She was chosen for Valor’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 2008. Recently, she completed her Masters in Mathematics from University of Northern Colorado. Mrs. Thomas is passionate about mathematics. More importantly, however, she is passionate about helping students realize their potential and the joy that comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ. Along with teaching, Mr. Trotter is a professional artist painting commissioned pieces, showing in galleries that have included the Arvada Center, and his work has been featured on the Food Network series, Unwrapped. Sports ministry has been a passion of his and he thrives on finding opportunities for students to engage in fellowship. Appointed 2008: Mrs. Vaughan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Secondary Education from San Diego Christian College; summa cum laude, valedictorian. She has taught a variety of sciences--including Biology, Chemistry, and Physical Science—for the last twelve years, as well as homeschooling her children for eleven years. She published a video study guide through Master Books based on a twelve-volume series of topics on special creation and science. She has visited 49 of the 50 states with her children Tyler and Samantha. Her husband, Mark, is an avid Valor Eagles fan. Either one or both of them can be found cheering athletes in the stands or artists on the stage at numerous Valor events throughout the school year. Mrs. Vaughan has had the privilege of taking four teams to Nicaragua through Valor Discovery over the last three summers.

Appointed 2009: Prior to her appointment at Valor, Mrs. Wolberg spent time teaching literature and writing courses for Colorado Christian University, Houghton College, Western Kentucky University, and the University of Notre Dame. She is the author of several scholarly articles as well as All Possible Art: George Herbert’s The Country Parson. In 2010, her youth novel, Beyond the Hedge, was released. Her family includes her husband, Dale, their daughter, Erika, and two sons, Jack and Nathan. Before settling in Highlands Ranch in 2001, they lived in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Finland, Scotland, and England. Mrs. Wolberg enjoys walking, reading, and good discussions--especially about the Bible, literature and culture and the Inklings. She can often be found reading George Herbert, Charles Dickens, C.S. Lewis, or J.R.R. Tolkien.

Appointed 2007: Mr. Worthington is one of the founding teachers at Valor Christian High School and teaches Honors Biology, Marine Science, and AP Biology. Prior to Valor, Mr. Worthington taught for 18 years in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. Five of those years were at Punahou High School, the former school of President Barak Obama. In getting his graduate degree, he has done scientific research involving SCUBA diving in Kwajalein (Marshall Islands), Oahu, Midway Island (Hawaii), Tahiti, and Mo’orea. He also traveled twice to Australia on semester long science field trips, as well as to New Zealand and Fiji. Mr. Worthington now leads a Discovery trip to Cozumel, Mexico where students SCUBA dive to study fish families, work with the government to study sea turtle nesting ecology, and swim with whale sharks. While in Cozumel, the Discovery team works with a local evangelical group called “Servants for Jesus” in reaching the island children for Jesus Christ. Mr. Worthington is now a Valor baseball Coach. His love for sports gives him yet another opportunity to interact with students and help them with their relationship with God. He has been married to his wife, Gretchen, for 18 years, and they have two children, Kaylin and Mark. Kaylin is a senior at Valor this year, and Mark is in 8th grade at STEM High Academy.
